family Christmas gift tags

I was a VERY busy gal in December. I was on a mission to make a tag, giftcard or card for each gift this year.

We were blessed this year to have more family join us to make a total of 23 beautiful family members to share this special time together.

It was late in the evening when we decided to start putting tags on the gifts when I remembered that I hadn't taken a photo. I quickly grabbed my camera and took them. Only now I am able to look at them. Due to bad lighting the colour is off . My apologies.

This first photo shows the tags and giftcards made for family members.

some closeups :)

In this photo are hat pins that I had made. They are teeny hats glued onto large bobby pins ! The girls were able to take them off the tags, and quickly put them in their hair ! yes they did love them :)

As some of you know I run a childcare home. The following photo shows some of the cards that I had made for the children and their parents gifts
WHEW!!

I need to go take more photos of the cards that we made in stamp club this month. Hopefully they will be posted in the very near future!

Wishing you all the best in the New Year !!

Lights4Christmas

I decided to make a gift card holder using the latest stamp set from The {stamps} of life   called Lights4Christmas. Love the lights! I added some glitter rock candy to give the sparkle.  I also used a little trio tree stamp that came from an older stamp set called Joy2Christmas also from The {stamps} of life  to create a background on the card.

WOW I need to clean my room lol I've created quite a mess from these last few projects. But I enjoyed every minute.

Hope to share with you all again soon.

Well it's that time again. Club night is coming up later this week and our challenge comes from
The Paper Players what a fun challenge to work with.

Because it's Thanksgiving this weekend here in Canada I thought it would be great to go with the theme and make use of my newest stamp set from Stampin Up called truly grateful. I really enjoyed playing with it :)

creative chemistry 102 day 5

I was up late last night working away. It is our Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and there is lots to prepare for.

Day 5 was all about embossing Effects :)
I managed to make 3 of the 6 techniques from this last day. I have to say that I had a ton of fun playing around with these tags

Here are the results of my late night playing :)

The first tag is rusting with distress powder, the second one which I LOVED is called the shabby chic technique, and the last tag is tarnished silver except mine is copper :)
If you have never taken an online class from Tim Holtz I would totally recommend his Creative Chemistry 101 and now 102 classes. You will have online access to them for life :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

creative chemestry 102 day 4

I was able to sneak in a little time last night to create from class four.
It's all about alcohol inks! love these inks !

Here is my work
First one is the Ombre technique loved how it turned out. I will be doing this one again.
The second tag was faded layers. This was a really cool technique.
The last tag is the monoprint, again, I really enjoyed learning this technique.

There are 3 more techniques from this day that I was not able to do at this time. As soon as I am able I will post them here :)

Talk to you again soon :)

creative chemistry 102 day 3

I am planning to work on my day 3 class later this evening. That is the plan :)

I was able to spend some time last night playing with the tags for day number 3!

Day 3 is all about Distress. There sure are quite a few differnent ways to achieve this

Here are 3 ways that I have learned
the first 2 tags is a technique called smudge stamping, the next technique is called brayered stains what a neat effect for a background. The last one is distress  glitter rock candy I LOVE  working with this distress glitter.

There are 3 more techniques that were taught to us. I will post them at a later time.

Creative chemistry 102 day 2

I will post my work here from day 2 as soon as I able to work on it :)

Day 2 was all about stencils! love using my new stencils :)
Here is the results from my homework

The first tag is a mixed-media layering technique, the second tag was embossing with stencils and the last tag was embossing through stencils!
I had a ton of fun playing with the stencils this way and there are still 3 more ways to use them.
I will post those last 3 techniques soon.

Creative Chemistry 102 !! day 1

Yes, I decided to take another class from Tim Holtz :)
Creative Chemistry 102

The class started on Monday and I am only able to start working on it now!
I am already way behind. But then it seems that I am pretty good at that lol

I know that I will get all the assignments done it just may not happen as quickly as I would like. I know that I will give it a good go.

Here is my work from the first day of lessons. I really did enjoy playing around :)

The first day was all about distress paints

The first photo show the first four techniques.
first tag was a marbling technique, then we did the coloured crackle (love that rock candy), altered surface and then the dress form is the eroded metallic technique which I love, the photo just doesn't capture the true look of it.
here is a closeup of the frame and flower. Just love the  antiqued look :)
and the last two
are the stamping resist and the industrial technique hard to capture metal in a photo
and that is it for the first day of lessons.

Pant pant off to go work on the next class .... :)

Sept Stampin Up cards

Whew! I did it. My goal was to post the cards that we made in our stamp club before the next meeting!
Here are the 3 cards that we had made

I fell in love with the first card. Sponging with a framed background. It's one of those you have to see with the naked eye.
The colours are beautiful! and the technique we used involved using a mask.
The idea for this card came from Patty Bennet Patty's Stampin Spot Quick Card with a Wow Factor
this next card we were shown how to double emboss. I think it turned out great! a great technique to remember.
Idea case'd from Ann Clemmer How to make a textured background using the Big Shot
and now for the 3rd and last card Floating Butterflies.  I had always wondered how the butterflies stood up when the card was opened. Now I know! THANK YOU  Charlene!
Idea came from Mary's Tales Pop-up cards and Sponged Butterflies

What a great start to another year for our stamp club. Looking forward to learning more.

Have a great weekend!

getting back into a routine

Stampin' Up club is starting again and lucky me it is my month to host! :)

Here is the link for the challenge sketch that Charlene had sent out for this month.

this is my take on the sketch
I used the following:

crumb cake cardtock
black cardstock

basic gray ink
I misted over the background with champagne mist to give the card some shimmer

stamps used were print pattern, texture (wheel) and the thank you sentiment came from the stamp set faith in nature

punches, ticket duo builder, decorative label, along with the Tim Holtz pennants on the edge die

I am so excited to get back into doing this each month. I also promised myself that I would start posting more often. I am finally getting my craft room organized so I will be able to manage my time better.

Talk to you all soon!

ladybugs2love

I love this stamps set!

I received this stamp set last month and am finally able to use it! The stamp set came from the stamps of life

I was also able to use my new embossing folder along with a spellbinders die if I remember correctly it is called tulips.

I used stampin up chalks to colour the leaves green and the single flower pink. I also used pink chalk along the edges of the white circle as well as the white oval.

That is all for now
Have a great week!

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2013 April

I was finally able to finish my Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2013 April tag before the end of the month. On this tag Tim was demonstrating the "look of patina" on a variety of surfaces using the distress paints.

Here is my version of the tag
Once again I did not have all the items that he used so I improvised and used what I had on hand :)

Sharing in your sorrow

I was sad when I heard the news. No it was not someone close to me but close to someone that I know. I am giving this card to a male person so I did not want it all "pretty"

If you look close you can see that I  had embossed a square in the center. I then centered the popped  stamped image inside the embossed square. Finishing it off with a spray of shimmer mist over the entire card.

Simple

Take care everyone
Have a safe weekend!
Donna
ps I noticed the corners were not sticking down well. They are now fixed :)

Stampin Up Club for the month of April

WOW!!
look at these cards that we were showed how to make at our stampin up club this past Friday night.  I love them!

card #1  Double embossing
We did a double emboss on this card. I will definitely be using this technique again. I really love the look of it.
This card was CASEd from  Flowerbug's Inkspot
card #2 Secret Garden Oval
We heat embossed on the flowers, coloured them using an ink pad and a waterbrush! and then we used the matching dies to cut them out. Love how it turned out!
Inspired from  LW Designs

card #3 the last one         Best of Flowers Oval
Charlene was clever to use the ovals that we cut from card #2 as a base for our focal point. The flowers were coloured using stampin ups colour markers. Very easy to use and again turned out great!
This card was inspired by Inking Out Of The Box
Thanks again Charlene!

PS      I won the card challenge this month :)

Happy 80th Birthday Mom!

It was my mothers 80th birthday on March 29th

Here is the card and envelope that I had made for her. I will be giving it to her when we all get together this Saturday to celebrate her birthday.
One of the things that had been planned was for my mother to receive 80 birthday greetings. She actually received more than the 80 cards through mail or hand delivered. She was very thrilled to be receiving these cards over a 2 week period. She has no idea that there is a celebration coming up.

The plan is to display all the cards at the celebration. I am looking forward to see all those cards at one time!

Have a great week

Stampin Up club March

Here we are at the end of March and I am just getting my post up.

Once again Charlene had us make 3 awesome cards!
here is the link to Patty's stamping spot   the sponging delicate lace tutorial. This technique was used on the first card.

Flowerbug's Inkspot is where the bunnycard was cased from
the inside of the bunny card
the last card here is the link to Tamara's Paper Trail where you can learn how to flatten the soda pop tops
The links have finally been added! hope you are able to give them a try.

Here is the card that I had made for our monthly challenge.

boots4rain

Another stamp of the month from The {Stamps} of life

I am impressed that I am not at the deadline this time! the deadline is at midnight on the 15th of each month.

This stamp set was fun to play with. I took many photos trying to capture the wet look on the boots. I accomplished my task. I used a spray called goosebumps, love that stuff.

I am thinking that I will have to make a matching game for the children to play with. I am sure they will love it!

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2013 February

Hello to all my followers !
I finally found the time to sneak my tag in while it is still February!

The idea was to make a Valentines day tag but valentines day has come and gone, so I made mine for a male  birthday card.

I really enjoyed colouring with the distress markers and then using a waterbrush. I am thinking that I will be doing this a little more often :)

and here is the link to Tim Holtz February tutorial

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2013 January

Another year of tags with Mr Tim Holtz!
12 tags of 2013

It was -43 c last night!!!
My craft room which happens to be in the basement has my fingers cold. But the chance of being able to play along again this year creating these tags has me all excited. I realize I am at the end of the month and just sneaking my tag in just before the deadline has been a trademark with me in a few things. I really hope to change that this year.

Here is my tag!

I loved making this tag, and the sentiment on here  is so TRUE!! remember to cherish each moment. Enjoy your journey :)

Wishing you all a  great year!
