Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014 August
Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014
It's the last day of August and I am squeaking in my tag just in the nick of time! whew!
For this month Tim wanted us to use our own creative muse.
Here is mine
I wanted to use something that I hadn't used in a while so I dug out my kraft glassine paper and diecut some of the tattered flowers. I stamped and diecut a butterfly using watercolour paper, distress ink and crackle paint. Embossing paste was used with the woodgrain stencil. Linen ribbon was used to finish off the tag.
Hope you all are enjoying this beautiful long weekend!

Compendium of Curiosities 3 challenge #9
Challenge #9 comes from page 63. We are playing with these fun Sizzix Alteration Framelits! I love the combo of a sizzix die and stamp set that works together. Tim has a few of them out and at this moment I only own one set.
I decided I needed to get a gift box ready. I used the Tim Holtz sizzix jumbo flower die for the first time and I just LOVE it! I thought I would be able to work the butterflies into my project.
The butterflies come from the "french flight" sizzix framelit set. I stamped the butterflies onto watercolour paper, that I coloured with distress markers. Once dried, I added a layer of crackle paint. Once the crackle paint was set I filled in the cracks with distress inks.
Here is a close up
From each challenge, the curiostiy crew picks a winner who will recieve an assortment of goodies from Tim and Mario!!
Also for this challenge Inspiration Emporium will be sponsoring with an awesome 50.00 shopping spree to one lucky random winner!
If you would like to join in on the challenges, grab a copy of Tim's book and head over to Linda's and get started :)

Compendium of Curiosities 3 challenge #8
I have been on holidays and missed a couple of the challenges. I am back with just a couple days left to enter challenge #8
The challenge we are working on is from page 58 Faded Layers.
I love these stencils!
I cannot tell you how I did this piece but I will tell you what colours I used.
The alcohol inks I used were sunset orange, clover, stream and silver. I also used a bit of silver acrylic paint. For the ribbon I used spiced marmalade, and tumbled glass.
I am needing to make a few thank you cards so I thought I would start making them now :)
Once again The Funkie Junkie Boutique is sponsoring this challenge with a 25.00 shopping spree!
If you would like to enter the challenge or join in on the next one you can join up at Studio L3
I am off to go get inky :)
enjoy your week everyone!

Suszen
Suszen is my niece who just had surgery and I wanted to make a special card for her.
I had made a lot of prints using my monoprinting plate from Stampendous and have been itching to start using them. I pulled one out that I thought would make a beautiful butterfly along with my Swallowtail stamp from Stampin up. I stamped and embossed with marcasite opal embossing powder also from Stampendous.
Love how this turned out.
The background paper that I had mounted the swallowtail came from stampin up water color wonder series.
Here is the finished card
Have a great weekend everyone!
I am starting my vacation as of 5:00 Friday!

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014 June
Here I am in mid June and I have my June tag finished!!
This month we are into blended watercolour. I love the look of watercolours so I was excited to play!
Once again I am using stencils. Love how versatile they have become for me well worth the money spent.
I also learned a new way to do the ribbon on the tag. Love this look!
Wishing you all a great week!
Donna
Earlier today I came across another challenge over at Simon Says Stamp wednesday's Challenge called "stencil it" so I thought I would share this tag with them :)

CC3C challenge #4
Compendium of Curiosities 3 challenge #4
Our challenge this week comes from page 49 Layering Stencil: Texture Paste
I enjoyed playing along in this challenge. This was the first time that I played with the texture paste in this way.
I even added some paint into my project. The lamp post was cut from a cereal box using the Tim Holtz holiday lamp post die. I then painted it black and edged with gold acrylic paint love that look. I even snuck some of the gold paint onto the sunrays :)
If you are interested in joining in on the challenges Linda over at StudioL3 would love to have you join in!
Great News!
This week www.thefunkiejunkie.com will be sponsoring the challenge!

CC3C #3
Compendium of Curiosities 3 challenge #3
Once again I have turned to another page in this great book and found this next challenge. The challenge is to use Tim's Faux Tea Rose Technique
I can't tell you how I made my roses but I will say that I cut them down so they would be smaller and fit on the ole jalopy :) I cut the flowers from white cardstock and then sprayed them with a mix of fired brick distress ink mixed with perfect pearls love the glimmer they have.
I loved the first challenge so much that I wanted to give it another try. I was going for a sunset. I really do like this technique.
The following products were also used:
perfect pearls mists heirloom gold
Ranger foil cardstock
Tim Holtz's collage embossing folder
distress paints
distress inks
Tim Holtz old Jalopy sizzix die
Once again Inspiration Emporium will be sponsoring this challenge. One lucky winner will win a 50.00 gift certificate!!
If you are interested in joining in on the challenges Linda over at StudioL3 would love to have you join in!

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014 February
here is my February tag
I always try to use products that I have on hand.
In this technique it was creating the effect of a chalkboard.
Once again the background was created by using one of Tim Holtz's stencils called hearts. I also used the new chunky distress glitter. I am not usually a glitter person but for some reason I really like this glitter! sorry about the photo, the glittered heart is not that dark.
I am off to go work on another challenge.

The Stamps of Life crazy4daisies
crazy4daises is another cute little stamp from the stamps of life I am not sure if I had mentioned this, but Stephanie now has matching dies. So of course I now belong to "the die hard" club which means I get a stamp and matching dies set sent to me each month :)
I wanted to make a simple card and I think I achieved it. I love how this card turned out.
I hope you can see the embossing around the petals of the flower. I achieved this by using the die!
The ink I used on the flower and the "hello" was the archival Chrome Yellow I then used the distress inks and markers on the stem and leaves peeled paint and forest moss. For the center I used the new distress glitter. I love this new glitter!
That is it for now
Take care

12 tags of 2014 March
I know I wasn't faithful last year in keeping up with the 12 tags of 2013, but this year I am hoping to regulate my time better and join in on the fun !
Here is my first tag of the year and I am currently working on the Jan and Feb tags of 2014 so watch for those post.
The technique for this month was "smudge stamping" there are actually two ways of doing this. You can check it out here
and my results
I used the Tim Holtz stamp set called Spring Sprung.
This stamp set seems to be one of my favorites :)
I used the new Tim Holtz stencil called "Bubble" along with my marker spritzer which I had picked up from Stampin' Up online clearance sale :) The distress inks that I used were dusty concord, peeled paint, rusty hinge, frayed burlap, pumice stone, and walnut stain.
I had some natural heavy jute that I stained using the Lindys stamp gang " mango mania". Seam binding trim was tied at the top which I had stained one with peeled paint distress stain and the other was stained with dusty concord distress stain.
I am not sure if I like the results, I need to play with this technique more before deciding if I will use it in a project.
I am always a willing student who wants to learn new things :)

Stampin' up February 2014
Tonight is our club night and once again we have our sketch challenge. The sketch challenge for this month is from Freshly Made Sketches
I LOVE how this card turned out. I was trying to go for a bit of a shabby look.
I started off using my favorite colour cardstock from Stampin' Up Coastal Cabana! the next layer I used white cardstock and embossed using the alphabet press folder. I then stamped using the colours apricot appeal and cameo coral along with the stamp set called Tape It. The happy birthday stamp came from the happiest birthday wishes stamp set. I used the deco labels thinlit dies to cut the frames out. I then did some stitching and tucked in some tulle.
Now I am off to go learn some tips and tricks !
I'll be back
If you live in Saskatchewan, have a great long weekend! It's family day on Monday :)
and to all my other readers have a great weekend !

Stampin Up Jan 2014
Hard to believe, February club night is coming up! I only now realized that I didn't post January club cards so here it goes.
This first card is the one I made for the card sketch challenge. The sketch came from
Try Stampin on Tuesday
and here are the cards that we made in our January club
This first card is pretty cool a twist on the square thinlit and then we did some colouring.
This idea came from Dreaming about rubberstamps
Second card
Brayered Vellum Flowers Card
This technique was new to me :) the flowers were made from white vellum cardstock. The vellum was preinked in yellow, blue, and red ink. We stamped, punched, and used a stylist to make our petals stand out. This was a great card to make.
The idea comes from Stamp Paper Scissors (Jan Tink)
Now for out last item we made a card that becomes a bag topper. What a great idea, love it!!
Tag Topper Punch Bag Hanger was case'd from Wee Inklings
I just happened to have a white bag and I attached it. The card is removeable. It just slides into the slot.
What a great lookin' gift bag!
Now I am off to go make my card for this February sketch challenge
Take care

Stampin up Dec 2013 cards
Hi everyone,
I just have to say that December was once again BUSY! as usual :)
I am finally able to post the cards that we made in our December Stampin Up club.
I really don't know how Charlene does it but here we go with three gorgeous cards!
Our first one called "starburst technique" love how this turned out!
There are many variations of this technique
Card was CASE'd from Kay Kalthoff Stamping to Share and she shows you how in this video :)
Suspended snowflake was our second card. WOW! loved how it turned out.
CASE'd from Lyssa Zwolanek Song of My Heart Stampers
And our last card, which I was not able to make at the club. I had to leave early to pick up my hubby from his staff party. Charlene wanted me to be able to make this last card so she had precut and packed it into a baggie for me to take home, how sweet !
Love it!
this card was CASE'd from Susan Itell Simple Stampin
Until next time whishing you all the best !!
